Millennium Overture: North South Music
Upcoming Events: Commissioned by FRIENDS OF VOCE to write a work for Soprano, Clarinet and piano in 2007 that was performed in February of 2008. Recently commissioned to write a work for VOCE, an outstanding chorus in Hartford Presently working with Voce to complete an enhanced CD recording of all of my musical Christmas Cards to be released in November of 2008. Meneely-Kyder is working on a large-scale Cantata that reflects her father's experience as a doctor in WW II in the 10th Mountain Division and life in the aftermath of the war. Sarah's sister, Nancy Fitz-Hugh Meneely, is the librettist. Recent Performances: March of 2006 - Meneely-Kyder coordinated and presented herself both as performer and composer in presentations of solo piano works by Ann Silsbee and the poetry of Ann Silsbee set to music for piano/ soprano and piano / two sopranos by members of New York Women Composers in Ithaca NY and in NYC. Meneely-Kyder is a member of the New York Women Composers. May of 2006 - Meneely-Kyder also performed as pianist in a premiere by Alvin Lucier entitled BUMPS at Wesleyan. 2005: August 2005 - Presented works by Beethoven, Prokofiev and J.S. Bach with violinist Pedro Pinyol and the late violinist, Peter Sacco, founder and artistic director of the immensely popular Summer Music Festival at Harkness Park in Waterford, CT. September 2005 - Presented a duo recital for piano and cello with Assistant Principal of the New Haven Symphony, Thomas Hudson that included a new work of Meneely-Kdyer's called SWEETHEARTS October 2005 - Meneely conducted a premiere of a new work, BEHOLD, NIGHTS DREAM UNVEILED for Mezzo Soprano/Cello/Harp that was commissioned by mezzo, Laura Cook and performed as a part of The Hartford Music Club Series. Meneely-Kyder ccompanied Soprano Donna Schaffer in a performance of works for piano and soprano that ranged from Classical Art Song to Broadway.
Releases: March 2003 - Millennium Overture Broadcasts in Amsterdam Past Events : Commissioned to write woodwind quintet over summer, 2003. Premiere Performance Jan 25, 2004 Sarah's student, Serena Zhou, student winner of South East Symphony Youth Orchestra Concerto Competition, performed a concerto by W.A. Mozart on May 10, 2003 in Westerley, RI with Youth Symphony. Wesleyan Piano Student, Harjung Park, winner of Tischler Competition for Piano 2002. Four runners up. Wesleyan student, Jiatao Wang, performed for famous Belgian Pedagogue & pianist, Diane Andersen, in March, 2003 at Neighborhood Music School. |
